I really like data standards. They are important and powerful. I hope this humble page will help me connect with other data standards aficionados, especially those of us working in health and human services. #housing-is-healthcare
As a new HMIS administrator, I struggle to find what I need in the HMIS Data Dictionary and various data standards manuals. Wouldn't it be cool if I could feed those documents into ChatGPT so that I could just get my questions answered without having to look in 5 different places across those documents? Or maybe get ChatGPT to build me an indexed knowledge tree that could sit behind a simple search box?
What if we could liberate the HMIS data standards content from their current PDF containers? Could feeding this content into AI help us build tools to make the information more accessible and searchable? I would like to find out.
Run an open-source style project to deliver HMIS data standards (public domain content) in machine readable format
Help make community efforts to support data standards easier to find and access
Markdown files containing HMIS data standards information (FY2024 version)
This project does not seek to change any of the standards
Not sure yet. I'm just sitting in the Monday morning plenary session and coming up with ideas.
Perhaps we can host the files on GitHub, and also use the project management tools there to organize and track our work
Someday, I want to see our HMIS standards published in beautiful, consistent formats like they have over at the National EMS Information System
Please reach out to me on the Whova app if you're interested in talking about this! I'm Hailey Pate =)
